A low and associated front approaching the Panhandle from the
south will over run cold surface air Wednesday night and Thursday
and generate another late season snow event for Southeast Alaska.
4 to 6 inches of snow are possible for much of Southeast Alaska
north of Frederick with 6 to 9 inches possible near
Haines...Skagway...and the associated highways.

...Measurable snow likely for northern Panhandle...
A front across the West Coast of Alaska will push across the
southern Mainland and the Gulf to bring colder temperatures to
the northern Panhandle beginning late Sunday. Snow levels will
fall through Sunday to sea level by Sunday night.
Meanwhile another system currently over northeastern Siberia will
follow the front and bring enough moisture for measurable snow
beginning Sunday night but especially Monday and Monday night.
Snow accumulations will be light Sunday night with up to 2 inches
possible. However snow amounts Monday through Monday night could
range from 2 to 6 inches over the area.

THE BIGGEST NEWS FOR FEBRUARY IS THE LOW SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FOR THE MONTH.
THE TOTAL SNOW WAS ONLY 10.3 INCHES WHICH IS 6.5 INCHES BELOW NORMAL.
PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH WAS 3.62 INCHES WHICH IS ABOUT ONE HALF AN
INCH BELOW NORMAL.
FEBRUARY WAS SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF
31.9 DEGREES WHICH IS 1.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH WAS 2.1
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AT 37.3 DEGREES. THE WARMEST DAY WAS ON THE 26TH
WITH A HIGH OF 47 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE FOR FEBRUARY WAS
