NWS Special Weather Statement
346 PM ADT Thu Mar 20 2008
...Heavy snow possible over the weekend...
A complex low pressure system is forecast to move into the eastern
Gulf this weekend. This relatively cold upper level low will bring
the potential for heavy snow to the far north with the greatest
threat for heavy snow around the Haines area...near interior
passes...and at higher elevations. Some snow is also likely for
coastal and central Southeast Alaska but this is expected to mix
with rain from time to time and limit overall accumulations.
Persons traveling across the northern Panhandle or venturing into
the mountains should be prepared for winter conditions. Please
stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your local weather news source
for updates on this developing situation.

NWS Special Weather Statement
456 am ADT Thu Mar 20 2008
...Heavy snow possible over the weekend...
A complex low pressure area will move into the eastern Gulf late Fri into Sat.
This low will bring potentially heavy snow to the far N area...with
the greatest threat for heavy snow around the Haines area.
Snowfall amounts are not certain however as there are uncertainties
on the exact track of the low at this time. Areas further south
may also get some snow...but it is more likely that the
