The first Arctic airmass of the season is forecast to spread
across the Panhandle Thursday and continue through Monday.
High temperatures are forecast to stay below freezing at most
locations while nighttime lows will fall into the lower teens in
the colder inland and wind sheltered locations.
The colder temperatures will be accompanied by strong northeast
winds in exposed locations over the weekend. Taku winds are
possible in the Juneau area during this time. In
addition...freezing spray is expected across northern Lynn Canal
Saturday night and Sunday. Boaters and those venturing into the
back country will need to use extra caution.
Persons across Southeast Alaska should finalize their winter
preparations. Boats and recreational vehicles stored outdoors
should be protected from the cold. Consider the extra needs of
your outdoor pet. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio for updates on
the developing event.
