Water levels on the larger rivers and lakes across north central Southeast Alaska remain slightly above to near bankfull levels this morning and are receding very slowly...so the flood advisory has been extended until noon ADT today. At 115 am...the Mendenhall Lake level was at 9.40 feet...nearly even with the reading of 9.37 feet from 915 PM last night. Flood stage is 9.1 feet. At 4 am this morning a few inches of water continued to cover Skaters Cabin Road...however...the lake level is expected to slowly recede through this morning. So the flood advisory for the Mendenhall Lake has been extended until noon ADT today. At 4 am...the Mendenhall River remained at bankfull level of 12.19 feet and is actually slightly above the previous reading of 12.0 feet taken at 10 PM last night...so the flood advisory has been extended until noon ADT today. However...the forecast is calling for a steady drop in the river level through the morning hours. At 100 am...the Antler River has receded to a stage of 32.57 feet. Bankfull is 32.5 feet while flood stage is 33.5 feet. This river level has been trending steadily downward since the 10 PM last night reading of 32.71 feet. In the absence of significant rainfall the Antler River level has probably dropped below bankfull at this time. Therefore the flood advisory for the Antler River has expired as of 6 am this morning. Persons along rivers and lakes in north central Southeast Alaska should continue to exercise caution and stay alert for changing river conditions. Never drive through water of unknown depth. This statement will be updated by noon ADT or sooner if conditions warrant. Water levels on the larger rivers and lakes across north central Southeast Alaska remain slightly above to near bankfull levels and are receding very slowly so the flood advisory has been extended until 6 am ADT Sunday. At 915 PM...the Mendenhall Lake level was at 9.37 feet...only dropping about 2 inches over the past 6 hours. Flood stage in 9.1 feet. Several inches of water continue to cover skaters cabin Road. The lake will continue to slowly recede overnight. At 10 PM...the Mendenhall river remained at bankfull level of 12.0 feet and only has fallen a few inches during the evening so the flood advisory has been extended until 6 am. At 10 PM...the Antler River has receded to a stage of 32.71 feet. Bankfull is 32.5 feet while flood stage is 33.5 feet. The flood advisory has been extended until 6 am. At 930 PM...the Taku River had receded below bankfull level so the flood advisory has been canceled. At 4 PM...the Mendenhall River was at 12.05 and just starting to fall. Minor flooding of driveways...outbuildings and one garage is occurring along View Drive. Mendenhall Lake...the source of the river...has already showed a significant drop in water level so the river will recede through the evening. This is the second highest crest on record for the Mendenhall River. The Taku River...at the USGS river gauge near the Canadian border... the river stage was 42.16 feet and steady. Flood stage is 43.0 feet. At stages above 42.0 feet outbuildings...docks...and property stored in low lying areas are prone to minor flooding.
