(Editor: Another bureaucratic imposition to waste the time and money of owners under the penalty of law.) And what if all the information/documents can't be verified? Under Real ID standards you have no ID and in effect become a non-citizen/non-person with all those implications. And people are upset with the DMV rigamarole as it is already.... The American people, throwing chains around themselves and begging government to make their lives harder. If I ever have children, I do not want them to live under such a system where we have trashed liberty in favor of the illusion of security and even if we have "security" we might as well be living in Russia or China since we are no longer free. With freedom there are risks, but we used to believe that liberty was more important and it was the hallmark that set the United States of America apart from all other nations. The delay impacts communities in Southwest Alaska and along the Aleutian chain. The 53 year old ship went in for a scheduled annual overhaul on March 13. A replacement vessel has been designed but is awaiting funding through the pending fiscal year 2018 capital budget. AMHS staff is contacting affected passengers. NWS Summary of April 2017 Weather in Southeast Alaska: ...A wintry start to April, followed by beautiful spring weather, another bit of snow, followed by more fair spring weather... April began with one storm system moving inland. Fairly typical spring weather across southeast Alaska began the month with a few weak storms bringing precipitation in the form of rain to sea level. High pressure built over the eastern Gulf of Alaska heading into the second week resulting in clearing skies and warming temperatures. Numerous daytime high temperature records were set around mid month. This warm and dry weather persisted into the following week before high pressure over the Yukon advected a colder airmass to the northern Panhandle. This resulted in the next storm system bringing late season snow to the northern inner channels, including a trace of snow on the 19th at NWS WFO. Periods of rain and a warming trend prevailed for the latter part of the month with more daily record temperatures observed on the 22nd. Overall, April was warm across the region. Annette Island recorded the warmest and Skagway its second warmest average temperature on record. Also, Yakutat recorded the warmest average maximum temperature on record. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mon. 5/01/17: 0618-19: 6.3 M Earthquake - 84km WNW of Skagway, AK - See 0618-19 Below & Info at USGS | 0449: M 5.2 - 97km WNW of Skagway, Alaska, in Canada - See 0449 Below & Info at USGS | 04:31:55: 6.2 M Earthquake - 88km (54.7 miles) WNW of Skagway, AK and 131.1 mi. from Juneau, in Canada - See 0432 Below & Info at USGS | 1st (large) Cruise Ships of the 2017 Visitor Season are in port today by 1300: Holland America Line's Nieuw Amsterdam & Eurodam | 0619: Fresh Snow visible on the upper part of Mt.
