The minimum bid price is $1.5 million and interested bidders must have a bid bond of $5,000. The complete bid package is available on the state’s Online Public Notice website. ADOT&PF is selling the vessel “As Is/Where Is” to the highest bidder. The sale process involved getting Federal Highway Administration approval since federal funding was used to maintain the vessel over its lifespan. Last month, ADOT&PF initiated proceedings to transfer ownership of the M/V Taku by offering it to other state agencies or municipalities. No public entity expressed an interest in assuming ownership of the M/V Taku. Interested bidders have 60 days to submit bids, inspect the vessel if desired, and arrange financing if necessary. Sealed bids must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. Alaska Standard Time, on May 9, 2017. The vessel is currently at a mooring facility in Ward Cove in Ketchikan, Alaska. The M/V Taku was determined to be excess to the needs of the state for ferry vessels and outside the realm of what the state can afford to maintain and operate in passenger service with available funding. The vessel was constructed in 1963 and faithfully operated as a part of the Alaska Marine Highway System for over 50 years. The M/V Taku was taken out of service on June 23, 2015. NWS Winter Weather Statement Statement as of 5:17 AM AKST on March 03, 2017 ...Winter Storm Warning is cancelled... The National Weather Service in Juneau has cancelled the Winter Storm Warning. The snow showers have decreased overnight. There are still some around the area that can produce accumulation but the trend is for them to diminish through the early morning hours. This will be the final statement on this event. NWS Summary of February 2017 Weather in Southeast Alaska: ...For February, warm and wet mid month, then Winter storms at the very end... Very little action weather-wise for much of February...except for the middle of the month and then again at the very end of the month. Daily average temperatures trended down during the first week of the month and were generally below normal by the end of the week. A significant and abrupt increase in temperatures then occurred on the 10th of the month. Warmer than normal conditions persisted through the 16th of February. At that time and for the remainder of the month, daily average temperatures hovered at or slightly below normal. The first week of the month was also very dry. Precipitation returned along with the warmer than normal temperatures on or around the 10th of the month and was primarily in the form of rain for central and southern locations. Yakutat, however, experienced significant snowfall from the 8th through the 12th, and then again from the 16th to the 18th. Not much snow fell after that time, but enough did fall around the middle of the month that Yakutat actually finished the month with slightly above normal accumulated snow. The same can not be said for Juneau, which finished the month with only 4.1 inches of snow for the month instead of a more normal 16.8 inches. Annette remained on track for another record low snowfall month until the very end of the month, when 7 inches fell on February 28th and pushed that station above normal by over 2 inches for the month. Major and ongoing winter storms heralded the end of the month which lasted into the beginning of March. High winds also affected the Panhandle from the 11th through the 14th of the month. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Thur. 3/02/17: 1744: NWS: The Winter Storm Warning for Snow is now in effect until 6 AM AST Friday - See 1744 Below | 0627: Now Available: The February 2017 Monthly Report, and the updated Weather Database | NWS: Record Snowfall at the Annette Airport on Tuesday, February 28 - See 0145 Below | 0903: An avalanche warning has been issued for Thane Road from MP 1 to MP 5 - KINY | Costco to raise membership fees by $5 and $10 later this year (June 1) - KCRA - Sacramento, CA --------------------------------------------------------------- 2344 AST (Posted here at 0625 3/03): NWS: Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM AST Friday.
