WHILE THE FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH SAW NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES...AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TEMPERATURES WELL ABOVE NORMAL ENSUED FROM THE 2ND THROUGH THE 16TH. THIS PERIOD WAS CAPPED BY A DAILY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 48 DEGREES ON FEBRUARY 8. THE 16TH THROUGH THE 20TH SAW A BRIEF COOLING TREND WITH MORNING LOW TEMPERATURES HITTING THE 20 DEGREE MARK ON THE 18TH AND 19TH. TEMPERATURES REBOUNDED QUICKLY ON THE 21ST WITH YET ANOTHER DAILY RECORD HIGH AT THE JUNEAU AIRPORT...THIS TIME 50 DEGREES. TEMPERATURES REMAINED ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH. THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 37.6 DEGREES MADE FEBRUARY 2016 THE 2ND WARMEST ON RECORD AT THE JUNEAU AIRPORT. WHILE WARM...THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY WAS ALSO DRIER THAN NORMAL. PRECIPITATION WAS REPORTED EVERY DAY FROM THE 1ST THROUGH THE 15TH...BUT PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS WERE LIGHT WITH NO MORE THAN 0.31 INCHES RECORDED ON ANY ONE DAY DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE MONTH. A BRIEF PERIOD OF DRIER WEATHER OCCURED BETWEEN THE 16TH AND THE 19TH. PRECIPITATION WAS THEN RECORDED EVERY DAY BETWEEN THE 20TH AND THE 29TH.
