forecast office and 3.5 inches was measured at 400 feet on Douglas

Wind Warning.
Gusts will remain strong this evening as mountain waves over
Douglas and downtown Juneau will continue slowly diminishing
overnight. Douglas Boat Harbor recorded a peak gust of 87 mph
around 7 PM Thursday evening. Farther up in elevation at 3500
feet...Sheep Mountain recorded a whopping 140 mph gust around 730
PM Thursday evening. In addition...other areas outside of
downtown recorded strong winds...Juneau Airport and Lemon Creek
all recorded gusts to 53 mph early Thursday evening. In
addition...north Douglas peaked at 45 mph.

Storm Warning. Snow in the central and northern Panhandle will
diminish through tonight with little additional snow accumulation.
6 inches of snow was reported 13 miles north of Ketchikan. 14.2
inches of snow was reported in Thorne Bay.

dangerous wind chills. Very gusty outflow winds will reach as high
as 90 mph in downtown Juneau and Douglas. Latest model guidance is
also indicating the potential for significant snowfall across
portions of the central Panhandle and Hyder Thursday night into
Friday and then over the northern Panhandle into the weekend.
However...if latest model trends continue the significant snowfall
on Friday could expand northward to Juneau and Hoonah.

Warning...which is in effect from 6 am Thursday to 4 PM akst
Friday. The high wind watch is no longer in effect.
* Location...downtown Juneau and Douglas.
* Timing...winds will increase late Wednesday night with a peak
Thursday night...and then weaken by Friday evening.
* Wind...northeast winds gusting from 60 to 90 mph.
* Impacts...high winds will increase the potential for flying
debris and power outages. Mariners are advised to properly Moor
vessels.
