Tue. 12/29/15: DATA | 1014: MV Tustumena sailings between Homer and Kodiak for Dec.
29 & 30 are canceled due to forecast
hurricane force winds - See 1014 Below | 0620: I'm not well (at least so far) so we'll
see how things go today. There was at least
1-1/2" of Snowfall overnight (measured
at 0810 but it may have settled - melted
some by then) and now it's some sort of very
light drizzle as it has warmed to 34.9 F
degrees. There have been deer in the neighborhood
the past several nights and last night there
were another two tracks, one on the driveway
and one on the path on the yard.

The National Weather Service in Juneau has cancelled the Freezing
Rain Advisory.
Freezing drizzle has tapered off and has transitioned to
scattered snow showers. Less than a tenth of an inch of light
glaze formed on exposed surfaces.

A significant winter weather event is developing to impact most
of the Panhandle from Friday into Saturday. A well organized
weather front with mid tropical moistures source will push towards
the Panhandle. Meanwhile existing cold air in place over
Southeast Alaska will enable an overrunning snow event to develop
on Friday and continue overnight into Saturday. Snowfall intensity
and amount may be significant...and could potentially impact
travel across the Panhandle.

Juneau Airport and northern Gastineau Channel this evening.
Visibility will fluctuate between 1/4 mile and 2 miles through 8 PM.
Fog is expected to dissipate thereafter due to frost
development.

advisory...which is in effect until noon akst Friday.
* Visibility...a quarter of a mile or less.
* Timing...the fog that formed around midday around Juneau will
linger through the night and into Friday morning.
* Impacts...low visibility will make travel hazardous.

An advisory means that dense fog is already occurring or
