...A BIT DRY IN APRIL OTHERWISE A NEAR NORMAL MONTH...
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH WAS ONLY TWO TENTHS OF A
DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL. THE HIGHEST AND LOWEST TEMPERATURES WHERE SPOT ON TO
NORMAL WITH THE WARMEST DAY OF 60 DEGREES ON THE 30TH AND THE COLDEST
TEMPERATURES DROPPING TO 24 DEGREES ON THE 12TH.
PRECIPITATION FELL 21 DAYS DURING THE MONTH. ALTHOUGH IT RAINED THREE
QUARTERS OF THE MONTH...AMOUNTS WERE GENERALLY LIGHT. NINE OF THOSE DAYS
ONLY HAVING TRACE AMOUNTS. THE EXCEPTION TO THIS WAS ON THE 7TH WHEN 0.8
INCHES OF RAIN WAS MEASURED...THIS SET A NEW RECORD RAINFALL. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 0.75 INCHES WAS SET BACK IN 2000. EVEN WITH RECORD
RAINFALL OCCURRING...BY MONTHS END PRECIPITATION WAS SLIGHTLY BELOW
NORMAL BY 0.27 INCHES.
SNOWFALL FOLLOWED SUIT WITH SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL VALUES FOR THE MONTH
WITH A 0.8 INCH DEFICIT...WHEN ONLY 0.3 INCHES OF SNOW FELL. THE LAST DAY
OF SNOW FALL WAS ON THE 9TH...WITH A TOTAL OF 4 DAYS OF SNOW FALL IN
APRIL.
WIND DURING THE MONTH WAS PREDOMINATELY OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST WITH AVERAGE
SPEED OF 7 MPH. THERE WERE 11 DAYS WITH SPEEDS MEASURING 20 MPH OR
HIGHER...TWO OF THOSE DAYS HAD 30 MPH OR HIGHER RECORDED. THESE DAYS WERE
ON THE 29TH WITH 30 MPH. THE 7TH HAD 32 MPH...THIS WAS ALSO THE DAY WITH
THE HIGHEST PEAK WIND OF 42 MPH.
