...2014 STARTS OFF WITH RECORD PRECIPITATION AND MUCH ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES IN JANUARY...
JANUARY 2014 WAS SIGNIFICANTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL. THE MONTHLY AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 36.6 DEGREES...WHICH IS 8.3 DEGREES ABOVE
NORMAL. JANUARY 2014 WAS THE SECOND WARMEST SINCE RECORD KEEPING IN
1944. THREE DAILY MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE BROKEN ON THE 22ND,
23RD, AND 24TH, WHEN THE TEMPERATURES ROSE INTO THE UPPER 40S. TWO DAILY
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE BROKEN ON THE 17TH AND 23RD, WHEN THE
TEMPERATURES REMAINED IN THE 40S.
JANUARY WAS ALSO A RECORD BREAKING MONTH IN TERMS OF PRECIPITATION. THE
MONTHLY PRECIPITATION FOR THE MONTH WAS 10.15 INCHES...WHICH IS ABOUT 5

THE HIGHEST WIND GUST AT THE AIRPORT WAS 52 MPH FROM THE SOUTHWEST ON
THE 14TH. THE HIGHEST GUST AT THE DOUGLAS BOAT HARBOR WAS 37 MPH FROM
THE SOUTHEAST ON THE 13TH.
