- 0452 ADT: NWS: First Measurable Snowfall
of the Season expected for the northern Panhandle.
NWS Special Statement
Statement as of 4:52 AM AKDT on October 29, 2012
...First measurable snowfall of the season expected for the
northern Panhandle...
A low will develop over the northern Gulf Monday and gradually
drift east through Monday night. This low will spread
precipitation over the northern Panhandle starting Tuesday and
continuing through Tuesday night. The cool air mass in place over
the Panhandle at the moment will cause most of the precipitation
to start out as snow over the northern Panhandle. Heaviest rates
are expected Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening. Expected snow
amounts could range from up to 2 inches near Angoon to 3 to 6
inches farther north before the snow starts to taper off or mix
with rain early Wednesday.
Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite local
weather news source for updates on this situation.
This statement will be updated at 4 PM akdt Monday or sooner if
conditions warrant.
