advisory.
Lingering moisture has kept temperatures in the upper 30s this
morning limiting any frost formation.

The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued a frost
advisory...which is in effect from 4 am to 8 am akdt Thursday.
A cooler air mass moving into the northern Panhandle combined
with clear skies and light winds will allow patchy frost to form
for inland...low lying areas around Gustavus and Hoonah and in the
Mendenhall Valley near Juneau late Wednesday night and early
Thursday morning.
Locations along the water or exposed to wind will stay above
freezing.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Frost advisories are issued during the growing season so that
sensitive plants can be covered or brought inside before damage
occurs.
Plants subject to damage from frost should be given the
appropriate protection.
This statement will be updated by 800 am akdt Thursday or sooner
if conditions warrant.

JULY STARTED OFF WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES AND WAS ON TRACK FOR ONE OF
THE COLDEST JULY`S. HOWEVER WARMER TEMPERATURES FINALLY ARRIVED AND
JUNEAU ENDED UP WITH TEMPERATURES ONLY A LITTLE BELOW AVERAGE.
PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS WERE JUST ABOVE AVERAGE. THE ONLY RECORDS BROKEN
FOR THE MONTH WERE THREE DAILY RECORDS.
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR JULY WAS 54.9 DEGREES WHICH IS 2 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 61.3
DEGREES AND THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 48.5. THIS IS 2.6 DEGREES AND 1.4
DEGREES BELOW THE NORMALS, RESPECTIVELY. JUNEAU DID HAVE A RECORD FOR
LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE ON THE 9TH WITH A HIGH OF ONLY 54 DEGREES,

5TH OF JULY. THE LAKE REACHED A PEAK OF 8.36 FEET AND THE RIVER CRESTED
AT 9.98 FEET. ON THE 30TH LAKE NOLAKE ALONG THE TULSEQUAH GLACIER
RELEASED INTO THE TAKU RIVER. THE TAKU RIVER ROSE ALMOST 5 FEET
