The high winds have diminished since earlier this afternoon.
Occasional gusts to 45 mph are still possible this evening before
diminishing in the late evening. Measured wind gusts reached 71
mph at Juneau Airport...63 mph at the Juneau Federal Building and
the Sitka Airport...72 mph at Port Alexander...52 mph at Gustavus
Airport...and 42 mph at South Douglas. Several reports of trees down
around Juneau were also reported through the afternoon.

REGION THURSDAY NIGHT AND THEN AGAIN FRIDAY. EACH OF THESE SYSTEMS
WILL HAVE A LONG FETCH OF MOISTURE TRANSPORTING AMPLE SUBTROPICAL
MOISTURE FROM THE SOUTHWEST. RAIN FROM OVERNIGHT TUESDAY AND
WEDNESDAY HAVE ADDED AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION
TO GROUND THAT HAS BEEN CONTINUALLY SATURATED THROUGH THE WEEK.
THE THURSDAY NIGHT SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO BRING HEAVY RAIN TO THE

The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued a Wind
Advisory...which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 7 am
akdt Tuesday.
* Location...strong winds will spread over the area from west to
east.
* Wind...strong east wind will increase to be 20 to 30 mph with
gusts to 45 mph. Wind direction will shift to the southeast by
late Monday night.
* Timing...winds will be strongest west of the area late this
evening then spread east overnight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speed or frequent gusts
will occur between 40 and 60 mph.
This statement will be updated by 400 PM akdt Monday or sooner if
conditions warrant.
