wind 20 to 30 mph. Gusts as high as 80 mph near downtown Juneau
and south Douglas Island. A peak gust of 74 mph occurred at
Douglas Harbor around 7 am this morning with a peak gust of 48
mph recorded around 10 am at the Juneau Airport. Gust strength
is expected to increase through the early afternoon.
Temperatures will hold steady around 5 above zero through the day. Wind

PM this afternoon. These very windy conditions are expected to
continue through the night. Elsewhere northeast wind 10 to 15

...Highly variable temperatures today...
A temperature inversion across Southeast Alaska is helping to
produce highly variable wind and temperature conditions today. In
the windier areas...mainly over the water and near interior
passes...the winds are mixing down warmer air that is reaching
into the mid 30s. At the same time...areas where the wind remain
calm...temperatures are in the lower teens.
An example of this would be at 11 am this morning when the
temperature at south Douglas Island was 33 degrees while 10 miles
away the weather forecast office in the Mendenhall Valley the
temperature was 13 degrees.
In general temperatures will continue to gradually cool and winds
will become more widespread over the next few days.

of snow blowing at the very top of Mt. Juneau
and of the Mt. Juneau Ridge, some snow blowing
at the very top of Mt. Roberts and snow billowing
