A strong, slow moving weather front is forecast to move across the
area Friday into early Saturday. Heavy rainfall is expected with
1.5 to locally 4 inches of rain at the wetter locations. The
runoff will fill small streams and low lying areas to seasonably
high levels.
In the mountains a foot of snow is expected as low as 3000 feet
with up to 4 feet expected above 5000 feet. Persons entering the
higher elevations need to be prepared for severe winter

A developing storm is forecast to move through the Gulf of Alaska
Monday night through Tuesday night that will spread strong winds
across the Panhandle. Wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph should be
expected across the Panhandle with this system.
There are 2 areas of strong wind that will affect the Panhandle.
The first area of southeast winds is associated with a vigorous
front that will move from the eastern Gulf Monday night and cross
Southeast Alaska Tuesday. This will produce storm force winds
along the coast and gale force winds for the Inner Channels. The
second is an area of southwest winds near the low center that is
forecast affect coastal areas from Sitka to Icy Cape Tuesday
evening. This will produce storm force winds for the northeast
Gulf and Cross Sound.
Tides will be at a monthly maximum as this storm moves by and are
expected 1 to 2 feet higher than predicted levels.
Person across Southeast Alaska should prepare for this storm now.
Secure any loose objects that can be blown around or damaged by
the wind. Be sure to check boat moorings and airplane tie Downs.
Make sure items are stored above the maximum astronomical tide
line.

Monday night and spread very windy conditions along the outer
coast and across the Panhandle on Tuesday. Wind gusts of 40 to 65
mph are possible Monday night and Tuesday. In addition rainfall
amounts between 1 and 3 inches are expected with locally higher
