THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF SNOW IN 24 HOURS OCCURRED OVER THE WEEKEND OF NOVEMBER FOURTEENTH AND FIFTEENTH. THAT WEEKEND...A 945 MB LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKED TO THE EAST ACROSS THE NORTHERN GULF SENDING A STRONG FRONT ACROSS THE PANHANDLE. DAMAGE DUE TO HEAVY PRECIPITATION AND HIGH WINDS WERE OBSERVED IN DOWNTOWN JUNEAU AND ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST. MUDSLIDES DAMAGED ROADS...HOUSES...AND CARS THROUGHOUT DOWNTOWN. 1.53 INCHES OF RAIN FELL BETWEEN THURSDAY AND FRIDAY CHANGING TO 5.8 INCHES OF SNOW IN 24 HOURS FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. ANOTHER LOW THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER EIGHTEENTH...CAUSED A STRONG SNOW SQUALL TO MOVE THROUGH THE JUNEAU AREA DUMPING ANOTHER 5.2 INCHES AT THE RATE OF 2 INCHES PER HOUR AT THE AIRPORT. THE NEXT MONDAY ANOTHER 3.3 INCHES FELL CAUSING THE MONTHLY SNOWFALL TOTAL TO RISE ABOVE NORMAL IN LESS THEN 3 DAYS COMBINED. A PEAK WIND SPEED OF 62 MPH WAS OBSERVED AT THE AIRPORT DURING THE 945 MB GULF LOW EVENT. AVERAGE SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS 40 MPH AND GREATER BEGAN LATE IN THE DAY WEDNESDAY AND LASTED THROUGH FRIDAY. A TOTAL OF 8 DAYS WITH PEAK WIND SPEEDS GREATER THEN 35 MPH OCCURRED AT THE AIRPORT THROUGHOUT THE MONTH. BOTH THE AVERAGE HIGH AND LOWS FOR THE MONTH WERE BOTH ABOUT ONE DEGREE ABOVE THE MONTHLY NORMALS. THE AVERAGE LOW WAS 31.1 DEGREES COMPARED TO THE NORMAL OF 28.9.
