The heavier rains have tapered off across the Montana and Jordan Creek basins. Both of the creeks crested shortly after noon today and have continued to fall through the afternoon. Jordan Creek while not reaching minor flood stage of 9.7 ft did crest at 9.40 ft at 1230 PM that resulted in some nuisance flooding of along the banks and parking lot of Jordan square. The latest reported value on Jordan Creek was 9.28 ft at 5 PM. Montana Creek crested at 16.61 ft at 1215 PM and has fallen quickly through the afternoon. At its peak there should have been water across the low water crossing on Montana Creek Road but no impacts have been reported. Flood stage for Montana Creek is 15.5 ft and latest reported value is 14.41 ft at 5 PM. More rain is expected Saturday evening in the Juneau area that will slow the fall of these creeks or even start them rising again. However do not expect them to crest back above flood stage.
