* at 1014 am akdt...the stage on Montana Creek was 12.69 and was
rising quickly. With the heavy rain across the Juneau area
continuing this morning...Montana Creek is forecast rise another 2
and one half feet today and crest at minor flood stage of 15.5 feet
this afternoon.
*At the minor flood stage of 15.5 feet...3 to 6 inches of water will
be flowing over Montana Creek Road near the gun range.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
If you live near or along Montana Creek stay alert and be prepared
to take action.
Do not drive through water of unknown depth.

...Warmer temperatures to make an appearance Friday and Saturday
but do not hide the jackets yet...
Temperatures are expected to rise into the 70s Friday and
Saturday is looking to be even warmer...potentially into the low
80s especially over the northern Inner Channels regions. Coastal
locations should expect sea breezes during the afternoons and
evening to inhibit the warm temperatures there. The very warm
temperatures are due to a very warm pool of air moving from
British Columbia to the Panhandle. The last time the temperature
rose to 70 degrees or warmer in Juneau was last July.
These warm temperatures will increase snow melt in the mountains
and raise water levels of streams and rivers. Some notable rivers
expected to see significant rises include the Alsek, Chilkat,
Taiya, Skagway, Mendenhall, Taku, Stikine, and Salmon. A few of
these rivers could see near bank full water levels and we will
continue to monitor them for any potential statements. Taking a dip
in the water on such a warm day may be tempting but use caution
since the water will be cold.
The warm temperatures will be limited to just a couple of days
before cooler air moves inland from the ocean. High temperatures
on Sunday will be roughly 10 to 15 cooler than Saturday and
Mondays highs will be back to the upper 50s.
