Special Weather Statement Statement as of 5:03 AM AKDT on August 02, 2010 ...Warm weather expected across Alaskan Panhandle Tuesday and Wednesday... Warm days are expected over most of Southeast Alaska on Tuesday and Wednesday with daytime maximum temperatures reach the middle to upper 70s across the northern and central Panhandle to around 80 degrees across the southern areas. Record readings are likely to be set for many inland locations. Strong high pressure anchored in the northeast Pacific will continue to intensify and allow very warm air to settle over Southeast Alaska. The weather pattern will shift on Thursday as a weather front approaching the eastern Gulf with increasing cloudiness along the Panhandle coastal areas. This will allow temperatures to cool and back to seasonal high temperatures in the lower to middle 60s through Friday. Wear lightweight and light colored clothing and drink plenty of water. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles during hot weather. Following are the current record high temperatures and year of occurrence for selected locations across Southeast Alaska.
