As the 975 mb low develops in the northeast Gulf...heavy snowfall is possible for Yakutat and northern Southeast Alaska north and east of a Cape Spencer to Five Finger lighthouse line on Friday and Friday night. As the low moves off to the southeast Saturday and Sunday...a strong Arctic front will plow south through the Panhandle. Storm force winds are possible for the Inner Channels Saturday and Sunday. Frigid air from Canada will drop temperatures 20 to 30 degrees with teens and single digits common. Temperatures well below zero...are possible in the coldest wind sheltered areas. Dangerous wind chills...blowing snow...and heavy freezing spray are also possible during this time. Persons across the northern Panhandle...especially mariners and those planning outdoor activities should monitor this developing situation closely.
