This shot was taken from the southern end of Thunder Mountain at the overlook of Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure looking towards the Fish Creek Valley on Douglas Island. A portion of the runway and taxiway of the Juneau International Airport is shown adjacent to part of the 4,000 acre Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge while at a low tide of minus 0.1 feet; the main navigation channel of Gastineau Channel is in the center of the picture.

A 25 mile Telephoto down Gastineau Channel.

This shot was taken from the southern end of Thunder Mountain at the overlook of Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure while the tide was at a low of minus 0.1 ft. Douglas Island is on the right with North Douglas in the right foreground. 6-1/2 miles distant, the Douglas Bridge otherwise known as the Juneau-Douglas Bridge or simply “The Bridge” crosses the Channel from downtown Juneau at 10th Street to the vicinity of Kowee Creek on Douglas Island. 8-5/8 miles distant, opposite the community of Douglas, is Juneau Island also known as Mayflower Island. Visible in the far distance is Stephens Passage and the mainland south of Taku Inlet.
