Male Rufous Hummingbird On Guard
For two evenings in a row this little fella was perched at the top of the support pipe for the weather instruments, busily on the lookout to protect “his” hummingbird feeders from other hummingbird “invaders”. Hummingbird is shown 1.92 times larger than life-size.

A Dark-Eyed Junco (Oregon subspecies shown) - Twice Life-Size
Dark-Eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis)
Two subspecies in Alaska: Slate-Colored which breeds north of Yakutat Bay and Oregon which breeds south of Yakutat Bay. Both occur in Southeastern Alaska when not breeding, however in West Juneau the Slate-colored subspecies is rarely seen.
