Middle Peak is 6.6 miles from the State Capitol in downtown Juneau, Alaska. Hawthorne Peak was named in 1890 by Lt. Comdr. H. B. Mansfield, U.S. Navy. Published in 1893 by the U.S. Coast &#038; Geodetic Survey on Chart #8235; it was formerly named East Peak.</font></p>
