<p align="justify"><font face="verdana">The Dimond State Courthouse - A.D. 1974, was named after Anthony Joseph Dimond: US Commissioner in Chisana, Alaska (1913-1914); Special Assistant US Attorney for the 3rd Judicial Division of Alaska in Valdez (1917); Mayor of Valdez (1920-1922, 1925-1932); Alaska Territorial Senate (1923–1926, 1929–1932); Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives from Alaska Territory&#8217;s at-large congressional district from March 4, 1933 – January 3, 1945; District Judge for the 3rd Division of Alaska (1945–1953); and a champion of statehood.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="verdana">Main Street is in the foreground and 4th Street is on the left. The corner of the State Capitol is on the far left. In the distance to the right of the sloping glass roof of the Courthouse, the upper stories of the Baranof Hotel are visible and to the lower right of the Courthouse is the State of Alaska&#8217;s Community Building. Mt. Roberts is in the background. A reflection of the mountains on Douglas Island can be seen in the windows of the Courthouse.</font></p>
