Two Cruise Ships at Night.

These cruise ships are moored along the downtown Juneau waterfront. The Holland America Line ship Amsterdam is on the left at the Alaska Steamship Dock. Celebrity Cruises Mercury is on the right at the Cruiseship Terminal – which was formerly the Alaska State Ferry Terminal.

The Amsterdam is 780 feet long (61,000 gross tons) with a passenger capacity of 1,380, a crew of 647, and makes 18 visits to Juneau in 2007. It was launched in 2000 and is the third ship bearing the name of the Dutch capital in Holland America Line’s more than 130-year history.

The Mercury is 866 feet long (77,713 gross tons) with a passenger capacity of 1,882, a crew of 909, and makes 20 visits to Juneau in 2007. The ship’s inaugural date was November 2, 1997.
