Black Bear Sow at Steep Creek.

These pictures were taken at Steep Creek by the Mendenhall Glacier where the U.S.D.A. Forest Service has viewing platforms to view the returning salmon. 9 or 10 black bears in the area wander around and go fishing so they can fatten up for their wintertime snooze. Bus loads of cruise ship visitors to Juneau visit the Glacier and can take the very short walk to Steep Creek.
