Juneau from the Mt. Juneau Trail at the 1500 foot elevation of Mt. Juneau.

The steep and rugged Mt. Juneau Trail begins a little more than a half mile up the Perseverance Trail on the eastern (inland) side of the Cape Horn ridge. From the trailhead which is at the 760 foot elevation of Mt. Juneau, the trail climbs the roughly 2800 additional feet to the peak in 2 miles. The writer has climbed the mountain twice and the photographer three times.

In the middle foreground the Last Chance Basin side of Mt. Maria is visible on the right with the ridge of Mt. Roberts rising on the left side. On the far side of Gastineau Channel is West Juneau on Douglas Island.
