A Barge that Supplies Juneau and Southeast Alaska

This is a Northland Services barge with tug on Gastineau Channel off the mouth of Gold Creek, heading towards their terminal at Salmon Creek, 3-1/2 miles to the northwest. The downtown Juneau waterfront is in the background with the lower slope of Mt. Roberts rising above. There are two barge companies, Northland Services and Alaska Marine Lines, that serve Juneau and the other communities of the Alexander Archipelago by carrying the vast majority of the goods and supplies to the residents.
